JCCS Week: Tomica Limited Vintage police cars...

In an earlier post this week, I explained a bit where my love for Japanese cars comes from, as well as what I like more and more the deeper I get into Japanese cars.

One of the aspects of my affinity for Japanese cars centers on what they were like when they were on the roads of Japan.  It means I am expanding beyond GT-R's and more into street cars, buses, trucks, and kei cars.

And definitely police cars.

The Japanese police livery is so damn cool, it is not a surprise that Tomica Limited Vintage is putting it on as many police cars as it can.  We assume all the castings used had real car police counterparts, as TLV are sticklers for that.  Then again, you can put this iconic livery on a tricycle and it would look cool.

Our collection of TLV Police cars continues to expand.  It is not even close to being complete, but it is fairly substantial now.  In case you want to know our favorite, go to the Seibu Keisatsu section at the bottom at look at the first car, a Nissan Gloria with mag wheels.  A true beauty.

So to keep our JCCS Week celebration going, a whole bunch of Japanese marked and unmarked police cars.  Enjoy...

  1. That livery is still being used for the modern police vehicle models Tomica offer. Especially the Toyota Crowns as well as the Nissan Skylines, Fairlady's and Mazdas.

  2. The lightbar used for the Seibu Keisatsu series Nissan Cedric looks like a Japanese copy of the Federal Signal TwinSonic...

  3. Clarifications on the Seibu Keisatsu units.

The Laurel and Gloria are Fukuoka Prefectural Police cars, while that Cedric with the lightbar is a Tokyo Metro Police unit.

  4. To make the wheels they used for the Cedric police unit here, they modified the casting for the wheels used on the Laurel from 4 wheel nuts to 5 wheel nuts.

That info was taken from the TLV website...
