Yes, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is the 8th Hot Wheels Super TH...

There has been a lot of photos circulating, and a lot of questions sent our way about this.

So yes, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution will be the 8th Super.  We have known about this for some time now, but didn't want to share without proper pics.  Some photos that have circulated on Instagram and elsewhere are photos we will never show, and we recommend others pass on showing them as well.

But, since the word is out, and there is this recently expired listing on eBay, we thought we would share the good news.

It should be noted that these are most likely not the correct wheels.  From what we know the Evo Super will sport blue spoked rims, but we will be able to confirm that in time.

We are always happy to see another Japanese Super TH.  Like many recent releases, this model sports a Speedhunters theme, which we have mixed feelings about.  We do love Speedhunters, but it is one thing to have racing theme with real logos, like the Datsun Wagon Super last year, it is entirely another to plaster the hashtag and theme of a website all over an already good-looking casting.  We reserve our right to change our opinion, but right now this Super is a bit of a disappointment.

What are your thoughts?

  1. It sold for $47 already, the f*ck? I'm in the same club as you regarding the livery. I love the Evo X but I think the Hot Wheels version is a bit crap. Its not crisp enough, a bit too big and the wheels are big as well. The Matchbox on the other hand looks perfect. This one though, looks like the typical car you see in the American street racing scene and I'm neutral about that. I will still buy this because it looks good and its a Super.

  2. While the decor looks good, the wheels are not really suited for this car. They look too huge. I would rather love to see the regular version of this TH.

  3. The livery appears to be based on Charles Ng's Formula D G37. Why they put it on an Evo I do not know. www.speedhunters.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Larry_Chen_Speedhunters_Charles_ng-6.jpg
