Sit down for this one: Tomica Limited Vintage has unveiled the Nissan Silvia Super Silhouette...

I don't have a favorite model in my collection.  I have several candidates for favorite, but not one specific favorite.  In fact, if you are a longtime reader of Lamley, you know that my favorites encompass about 98% of the diecast world.  If you had a nickel for every time I have called a model my favorite...

But if I was forced to pick a favorite, it could very well be this one:

Again, longtime readers know my obsession with this, the late-1983 Nissan Skyline Super Silhouette by Tomica Limited Vintage.  Loving this is in no way unique to me.  The Super Silhouettes created a whole car culture in Japan.  They are as iconic as any car in Japan.

Finding replicas of these cars is not hard, especially in Japan, but in 1:64, nothing beats the Tomica Limited Vintage.  They did three different Skylines and three different Bluebirds, and they have been collector faves since they day they were released.  Some are still available at Japan Booster.

But there was one gap, and it is finally being filled.  If you say Super Silhouette, there are three main cars that come to mind: Skyline, Bluebird, and Silvia.  TLV had the first two covered, but that third, much different looking than the other two, still hadn't gotten the TLV treatment.

The Nissan Silvia.  The third of the Silhouette trilogy.  The most unique as well.  The color, the shape, and yes, those wheels.  This car needed to be replicated in 1:64 by TLV.

Well, friends, have a gander:

I don't need to say anything.  I know my readers, and I know quite a few of you are already putting your pennies aside for this one when it hits Japan Booster in the summer.  I would call it one of the first must-haves of 2016.

Yes, TLV can be hard to collect.  They are expensive, and you have to go through Japan to get them.  But they are completely worth it, and thankfully our friends at Japan Booster have made buying TLV about as easy as buying from a domestic store.  And you'd better believe this model will be available. Just count on it selling superfast.

The summer can't come soon enough...

  1. Damn, I need to start collecting these ones now..... how many have been released in 1:64 in tlv? Variations i mean

    1. There has been a Bluebird and Skyline

  2. It's been long awaited for the TLV fans. For me, casting looks better than anticipated. Yes, too much money, but I'm sure it'll be worth every yen. :)
